It’s been a busy week for the Mezrichs. Just a few days after surprising his wife, Tonya, with a birthday party, local author Ben Mezrich celebrated the release of his book “The Accidental Billionaires’’ with a shindig at the Liberty Hotel on Monday. Reviews of “Billionaires’’ have been mixed (and that’s putting it nicely), but we doubt Mezrich minds. His book - which is about the Harvard kids who invented Facebook - is already bound for the big screen as a film called “The Social Network,’’ with Kevin Spacey co-producing and David Fincher directing. At the moment, IMDb.com lists only one cast member, socialite/actress Bethany Carkhuff (who at one point in her short career was going to replace Nicole Richie on “The Simple Life’’). Guests at the book party included several movers and shakers including Dana Brunetti, who’s co-producing “The Social Network’’; former Bruin Gord Kluzak; Boston Ballet artistic director Mikko Nissinen; best-selling author Joe Finder; Boldfacers’ Lisa Pierpont; 28 Degrees owner Bill Emery; Atlantic Monthly editor Scott Stossel; Tiffany and J.B. Dowd, of Conde Nast Johansens; the French Consulate’s Eric Jausseran; and John Henry and Linda Pizzuti Henry. That’s right - Pizzuti says she goes by LPH now. Get used to it.

Is Steven Tyler retiring from Aerosmith? Not as far as we know, but Billie Perry - wife of the band’s guitarist Joe Perry - is refuting the rumor via her Twitter account. “Darlings, I doubt these rumors r true,’’ Billie tweeted yesterday. “Please wait until u read Official press statements. Not heard a word about Steven retiring 2 date.’’ She continued, “If true ‘according 2 sources’ Then have not informed management of quitting 2 our knowledge. Life is full of surprises. Not shocked by much.’’ No word on whose rumors Perry is rebuffing, but with all of the band’s ailments and show cancellations, there’s certainly cause for speculation.

Mr. Chow pays a visit
Mr. Chow is apparently a Green Day fan. Actor Ken Jeong, who played Mr. Chow in “The Hangover’’ and stole various scenes in “Knocked Up,’’ “Pineapple Express,’’ and “Role Models,’’ was one of the VIPs at Monday night’s Green Day show at the Garden. Jeong is in town to film two movies, the Kevin James comedy “The Zookeeper,’’ which is being filmed at Franklin Park Zoo, and “Furry Vengeance,’’ the Brendan Fraser/Brooke Shields comedy filming north of Boston. Fraser was also on the guest list for the sold-out show.

On the same team
If you’ve been wondering how much Marquis Jet paid to have its employees play softball with the Jonas Brothers - Nick, Kevin, and Joe - in Brockton over the weekend, the answer is: nothing. Turns out, the travel company is a corporate partner of the JoBros, which is why Marquis employees are playing games against the pop stars at small stadiums around the country this summer. Fans who managed to get into Campanelli Stadium for the event heard about it through the JoBros Twitter page. We asked Marquis Jet yesterday which city is next on the surprise-softball list, but all the company’s rep would tell us: “It’s super secret.’’

Meet and greet
“Rent’’ star Anthony Rapp partied with local notables and members of the Commonwealth Shakespeare Company on Monday night. Pictured, from left: Berkeley Investments exec Mark Barer, the Improper Bostonian’s Jonathan Soroff, Commonwealth Shakespeare Company director Steve Maler, and the night’s special guest, Rapp.
