Two Ohio police chiefs suspected of snooping for tabloid fodder at the home of a surrogate mother for actors Sarah Jessica Parker and Matthew Broderick have been arrested on undisclosed charges. A special prosecutor has been looking into whether the eastern Ohio chiefs illegally entered the woman’s home in May, when she wasn’t there, but it is unclear if the police chiefs’ arrests relate to that investigation. Martins Ferry Police Chief Barry Carpenter and Bridgeport Police Chief Chad Dojack were booked Wednesday night and released, Belmont County jail personnel confirm. The jail would not release charges. The surrogate mother gave birth to Parker and Broderick’s twin girls June 22 at an Ohio hospital. (AP)
Jude Law to be father
Jude Law’s spokeswoman says the actor is set to become a father for the fourth time. The identity of the mother has not been revealed. Publicist Sara Keene says that “following a relationship last year, Jude Law, 36, has been advised by the birth mother that he is to be the father of a child due in the autumn.’’ She says Law is no longer in a relationship with the woman but “intends to be a fully supportive part of the child’s life.’’ Law has three children with ex-wife Sadie Frost. A New York finance company that loaned celebrity photographer Annie Leibovitz $24 million has filed a lawsuit charging that she is reneging on the deal. Manhattan-based Art Capital Group says Leibovitz borrowed the money last year because she was in dire financial straits due to unpaid bills, mortgage payments, and tax liens. The suit says that in return, Leibovitz granted Art Capital the right to sell all of her photographs plus her homes in Manhattan and upstate New York. The breach of contract lawsuit was filed Wednesday in Manhattan state Supreme Court. It says Leibovitz is trying to ignore her obligations and has refused to allow real estate experts into her homes to appraise their value. Representatives for Leibovitz did not immediately return a call seeking comment. (AP)© Copyright 2009 Globe Newspaper Company.
