More than a thousand people lined up for several hours in New York City yesterday for the chance to be an extra in the “Sex and the City’’ movie sequel. The first “Sex and the City’’ film, released in May 2008, grossed $415 million worldwide. Shooting on the sequel, starring Sarah Jessica Parker, is set to begin shortly for a 2010 release. (Reuters)

Actor’s son arrested
Cameron Douglas, the son of Oscar-winning actor Michael Douglas, has been arrested on drug charges, media reports and authorities said on Monday. Douglas, 30, was arrested in New York for possession of what the New York Post reported was a “massive amount’’ of crystal methamphetamine with intent to distribute it. (Reuters)

Ledger video online
A music video Heath Ledger directed for “King Rat’’ by Modest Mouse debuted online yesterday. The six-minute, animated video is both whimsical and dark, showing whales and dolphins aboard a ship, fishing for humans in the water. It concludes with a message in white letters on a black screen: “This began with our friend, a great defender of life, and was completed in his spirit.’’ Ledger was 28 when he died last year. The actor previously directed a video for one of Ben Harper’s songs. (AP)
