Wonder Woman, also known as Lynda Carter, was at f.y.e. in Boston yesterday signing copies of her CD “At Last.’’ The disc features Carter covering classics, including the title track, “Deed I Do,’’ and “Cry Me a River’’ (the torch song, not the Justin Timberlake hit).
Tour canceled
Perhaps the least surprising news of the day is that Aerosmith has canceled the rest of its summer tour with ZZ Top. The band posted a note on its website yesterday saying, “Due to injuries Steven Tyler sustained last week when he fell from the stage during a concert in Sturgis, S.D., doctors have advised the lead singer to take the time to properly recuperate from the accident that resulted in a broken shoulder and stitches to his head.’’ The band would have played a gig Monday in Auburn, Wash. Aerosmith’s note goes on to quote guitarist Joe Perry as saying, “My hat’s off to our crew for putting up with this crazy stop and start tour. In my estimation, it was one of the best looking and best run tours we’ve ever had. Us road dawgs will meet again. May your wheels keep turning and your load in’s stay smooth.’’A familiar situation
Bobby Brown is in trouble for not paying child support - again. The former New Edition singer was supposed to appear in Norfolk Probate and Family Court on June 29 to address why he still owes his ex, Kim Ward, about $45,000 in child support for their two children; but Brown, who has a long history of bailing on child support, was a no-show. Associate Justice Christina Harms subsequently issued the civil-court equivalent of an arrest warrant for Brown, which means that if Ward chooses to notify local law enforcement, the former Mr. Whitney Houston will be arrested if he’s found in Massachusetts. Patrick McDermott, the court’s register of probate, said his staff is trying to figure out when Brown will be back in town. So far, they’ve come up with a gig that would bring him to the Bay State in October. McDermott said he finds it “ironic’’ that Brown always seems to default on child support just before he needs to promote a show. Regardless, McDermott says there’s some good that comes out of Brown’s much-publicized issues with paying child support. “I think it’s a good opportunity to educate the public on the consequences of failing to pay child support,’’ McDermott said. Brown’s lawyer and manager did not return calls for comment.Cup of joy
Pittsburgh Penguin and former Bruin Hal Gill was at the Home for Little Wanderers the other day showing off the Stanley Cup to a group of children (below). In anticipation of his visit, some of the kids made pottery Stanley Cups to give to Gill and his wife, Anne. They got ‘The Goods’
Arlington comedian Dane Cook joined his buddy Jeremy Piven in Las Vegas the other night for the premiere of Piven’s new comedy “The Goods: Live Hard, Sell Hard.’’ Cook and Piven spent much of the evening tweeting about partying together and posting pictures of themselves with recent Boston visitor Kid Rock. Cook also mingled with Piven’s “Goods’’ costar, Ken Jeong, who has become the “it’’ guy of low-brow comedy. Dr. Ken, as he’s often called (Jeong actually has a medical degree), has been around Massachusetts lately filming “Furry Vengeance’’ with Brendan Fraser and Brooke Shields. Not biting, yet
Boston gal Eliza Dushku, best known for her work on “Buffy the Vampire Slayer,’’ admitted to fans on Twitter that she hasn’t seen the teen vampire movie “Twlight.’’ “I actually haven’t caught Twilight yet. Are you followers followers? Y/N,’’ she asked. One fan responded, “Twilight is the new chocolate.’’ Well said. He’s their idol
In other celebs-on-Twitter news, Ryan Seacrest appears to have made the most of his stay in Boston. After two days in the Hub for “American Idol’’ auditions, Seacrest tweeted to fans about meals at Legal Sea Foods and Lucia Ristorante. Seacrest even posted a video from his trip to Lucia on his website (www.ryanseacrest.com/blog/whats-happening). The clip features Seacrest chatting with some women at the North End restaurant, one of whom seems fixated on his weight. As Seacrest tweeted, “i made some new friends yesterday . . . i guess you can call them the real housewives of boston.’’Bay day for Chokachi
In some ways, the slowdown in Hollywood has been good for David Chokachi. The Plymouth native who played one of the beefcake lifeguards on “Baywatch’’ has had time to train for this weekend’s Cape Cod Bay Challenge, a 30-mile standup paddle from Plymouth to Provincetown. “It’s a form of surfing, but with paddles. It’s what the Hawaiians did ages ago, and it’s resurfaced as a sport,’’ says Chokachi (inset), one of 10 people taking part in today’s grueling trek across Cape Cod Bay. The actor told us he was turned on to the sport while in Hawaii shooting the TV show “Beyond the Break.’’ (The Cape Cod Bay Challenge, a fund-raiser for Christopher’s Haven, starts at 6 a.m. and, with any luck, ends in P-town eight hours later.) When he’s not on the water, Chokachi is working. He just finished an indie film in Maine called “The Putt Putt Syndrome’’ with Jason London and Robert Maschio, and is hosting a Spike TV special on the remake of “Clash of the Titans.’’Progression
