The crew and at least some of the cast of “The Town’’ set up shop yesterday at Devine Memorial Rink in Dorchester. Based on a Chuck Hogan book, the movie’s being directed by Ben Affleck, who could be seen coming and going from the rink on Morrissey Boulevard. The movie stars Affleck, Blake Lively, Jon Hamm, Chris Cooper, Jeremy Renner, and Rebecca Hall.

Bundchen and the bun
Gisele Bundchen’s big belly was on display yesterday as she and Tom Brady arranged the furniture on the rooftop patio of their place on Beacon Street. In one of the paparazzo’s pics, Brady and his buddy Will McDonough are both looking on as the pregnant supermodel is lifting what appears to be a small table.

Barrymore joins the Dames
The Boston Derby Dames, our city’s roller derby squad, are giddy about appearing with Drew Barrymore at the Artists for Humanity EpiCenter in South Boston today to promote the new derby movie “Whip It.’’ Barrymore and the Dames will hand out promotional materials for the film and pose with fans at 5 p.m. A Boston Derby Dame who calls herself Trixie Von Toxic told us that her squad endorses the roller derby movie - even though director and star Barrymore has taken some liberties with the sport. “We realize that they had to make some adjustments for Hollywood,’’ Toxic said, referring to scenes in the film’s trailer that show derby players getting a bit violent. “We don’t punch.’’ Toxic also said she’s impressed by the character names in “Whip It.’’ Part of being a roller derby player means having a witty, punny name. In the film, which stars Ellen Page of “Juno,’’ Barrymore plays Smashley Simpson, rapper Eve plays Rosa Sparks, and Kristen Wiig plays Malice in Wonderland. For the record, the Derby Dames have a local player named Malice - Malicen Thunderland, to be exact.

Finder's TV keepers
Because he majored in Russian studies at Yale, best-selling author Joseph Finder can be wonky sometimes. But Finder is pretty pedestrian when it comes to TV. Asked during a chat on Boston.com about his favorite shows, the author of such thrillers as “High Crimes’’ and “Power Play’’ had this to say: “I’m addicted to ‘24’ even when it’s bad [like last season - yuck]. I love ‘Entourage.’ . . . I watch ‘American Idol.’ And I shouldn’t admit this, but I even watch ‘Gossip Girl’ with my daughter and like it a lot. I’ve watched a bunch of pilots for the upcoming season and I’m excited about ‘The Good Wife,’ and I really liked ‘Glee.’ ’’

Ace time
If you want to give Josh Beckett a pep talk - or a talking to - you should set aside tomorrow night to visit the House of Blues. The struggling Red Sox pitcher will be at the Lansdowne Street club for the Absolut Beckett Bowl After-Party, which follows his charity bowling event at Lucky Strike Lanes. After-party performances by Pat Green and Matt Cline should start at about 10 p.m. The guest list includes many Red Sox players, many Patriots players, and at least a few Bruins and members of the New England Revolution. In case you’re wondering, the Josh Beckett Foundation benefits Children’s Hospital Boston.

A party with 'Style'
The creators of “Style Boston’’ got their groove on last night, celebrating the launch of their new TV show with a well-attended party at the ICA. The show, which is cohosted by Terri Stanley and Tonya Chen Mezrich, focuses on fashion, design, and all things chic and sophisticated around New England. (It airs Wednesdays on NECN.) The guest list for last night’s shindig skewed young and well-to-do, and included Tonya’s husband, author Ben Mezrich, John Henry’s wife, Linda Pizzuti, and Boldfacers founder Lisa Pierpont. Also in the house: Ron Druker, Michaela Larson, Robert and Joan Parker, George Tobia, and Intercontinental GM Tim Kirwan.

On track, sort of
Roush Fenway Racing driver Greg Biffle (front) took iRacing.com’s NASCAR simulators for a test drive yesterday at Game On!, challenging aspiring drivers to a race. A subscription-based online motorsports simulator, iRacing.com is used for training purposes by pros such as Dale Earnhardt Jr., Joey Logano, and A.J. Allmendinger.

Change on the menu
Banq, the South End restaurant outfitted with ribs of blond wood and a menu influenced by India and Asia, is morphing. It is slated to reopen as Ginger Park at the end of the month. The new chef will be Patricia Yeo, who moved to Boston from New York for the project. Yeo was previously at Monkey Bar, Sapa, Pazo, and AZ, among others. The food will be “modern Asian,’’ according to PR guy Chris Haynes.

Sweet connection
Stryper’s gig at the House of Blues Friday will be a family affair. That’s because Flight Patterns, the Cape Cod combo opening the show, is fronted by Michael Sweet Jr., who’s the 22-year-old son of Stryper singer Michael Sweet. (The Christian pop-metal band is celebrating its 25th anniversary.) Sweet’s been performing of late with Boston, and we’re told guitarists Tom Scholz and Gary Pihl will be taking the stage with Stryper.

Home Cookin'
It seems that Dane Cook will spend New Year’s Eve in Boston. The Arlington-bred comedian has booked a Dec. 31 gig for the TD Garden.

Max cries foul
Proud philanderer Tucker Max, who was in town last week to introduce “I Hope They Serve Beer in Hell,’’ a movie based on his exploits, called us yesterday to object to our report that he had inquired about a 19-year-old former student employee at the Globe, who attended his Harvard Square screening. Max told us yesterday that yes, he did inquire about the young woman, but that his interest wasn’t romantic. He says he noticed that the woman had written something not-so-nice about him on her Twitter page and that he wanted to contact her to discuss her comments. Max says he did have one of his sidekicks call to find out her contact information, but that if he had really been interested in a date with her, “I would have approached her myself.’’
