The sweatshirt doesn’t lie - Jimmy Fallon was all about local spirit when he performed at Northeastern University’s Matthews Arena on Saturday night. The comedian told the crowd that he met his wife on the Boston set of “Fever Pitch,’’ which is why the Hub is one of his “favorite places on Earth.’’ Fallon’s routine included a little night music (see picture) and a string of impressions of all of the comedians who have performed Northeastern before him - including Robin Williams, Norm MacDonald, and Eddie Murphy. At one point during his routine, the “Late Night With Jimmy Fallon’’ host mocked our fair city by pointing into the audience and exclaiming, “Oh look, a black person. Cool. In a hockey arena, that’s a double whammy - a black person in a hockey arena in Boston.’’

Celts draw a crowd for Pictionary

Revelers at Friday night’s Boston Celtics Shamrock Gala learned that Eddie House is not just talented on the court, he’s also skilled at Pictionary. Apparently, when the men in green played the drawing game as part of the annual benefit for the Celtics Shamrock Foundation, House ran the show - and the Pictionary board. The party, which was held at the Renaissance Boston Waterfront, brought out all of the Celtics bigshots, including Kevin Garnett, Paul Pierce, Ray Allen, Doc Rivers, Wyc Grousbeck, Steve Pagliuca, Dana Barros, Jo Jo White, Danny Ainge, and Tony Allen, who sported a stylish leg brace.

Dreyfuss drops in
“Jaws’’ star Richard Dreyfuss was the guest of honor at the Massachusetts General Hospital Psychiatry Department’s 75th anniversary celebration on Saturday night. Dreyfuss, who has spoken out about living with bipolar disorder, gave a talk about mental health to invitees, who included Jerry Remy, Joan Kennedy, MGH psychiatry department chief Jerry Rosenbaum, MGH exec David Torchiana, and Brigham and Women’s president Gary Gottlieb. Dreyfuss told the crowd that psychotherapy is good for the ego, joking that it always helps to sit in a room and talk about yourself for an hour.

O’Reilly at BU
Fox News personality Bill O’Reilly teamed with former NBC News exec Bill Wheatley at Boston University on Friday for a talk called “A Bold, Fresh Look at the Future of News.’’ O’Reilly and Wheatley are both BU grads - O’Reilly finished a master’s in 1975, while Wheatley got his in 1970.

Scene around
Magician David Copperfield was spotted at the nightclub Shrine at the MGM Grand at Foxwoods over the weekend. According to Shrine employees, an intense looking Copperfield stopped in after his gig at the theater down the hall, touched some of the statues in the club, and left shortly thereafter. Nothing disappeared. Also partying at Shrine over the weekend was Sox slugger David Ortiz. . . . Rosario Dawson, who has been in town shooting “The Zookeeper’’ with Kevin James, was spotted with her family at the Union Oyster House.

Pats leftovers
Bob and Myra Kraft hosted a pregame dinner in London for some of the local bigwigs who traveled across the pond for the game. The Krafts’ guest list for dinner at Harry’s on Saturday included Davio’s owner Steve DiFillippo, Ty Law, Tom Brady Sr., and PR guy George Regan. Meanwhile, a very pregnant Gisele Bundchen was spotted over the weekend roaming around her old hometown, New York City.

All that glittered
Dorfman Jewelers owner Jonathan Dorfman hosted a party at his Newbury Street store last week to celebrate his exhibition of works by three prominent Italian jewelry designers - Mirella Francia, Gianni Ambrosi, and Marco Verdi. Attending the soiree, which featured a live opera performance, were the participating designers, Museum of Fine Arts jewelry curator Yvonne Markowitz, French Library Alliance Française executive director Catheline van den Branden, and philanthropists Steve and Roberta Weiner. Dorfman told us that because of the exhibition, which runs through Wednesday, there’s about $35 million worth of jewelry in his store at the moment. We assume he has a very good alarm.
