It looks like John Krasinski is on “The Office’’ to stay. “I would never leave,’’ said the actor who plays Jim Halpert on the hit NBC show. The Newton native is in town to promote his latest film, “Brief Interviews With Hideous Men,’’ and yesterday he stopped by the Globe to participate in an online Boston. com chat. Krasinski wrote, directed, and stars in the film, which began as a staged reading when he was a student at Brown. (The movie is based on the David Foster Wallace book of the same name.) Though his “Office’’ costars couldn’t make it to last night’s screening at the Kendall Square Cinema - “I’ll forgive them just this once,’’ he joked - his parents, brothers, and assorted Brown buddies were expected to be there. Krasinski told us fame is both good and bad. On the one hand, he’s happy his film might entice people to read Wallace, who committed suicide last year. On the other, there’s way too much attention paid to, say, his recent engagement to actress Emily Blunt. “It’s not only strange but completely and totally surreal,’’ he said. “It feels like you’re in a weird dream - or a nightmare.’’ Krasinski will talk about Wallace tonight at Brookline Booksmith and the film will also screen again at the Kendall. (The transcript of his chat is at www.boston.com/ae.)

Arrest in Brady wedding shooting
A security guard is reportedly in custody in connection with the shooting at the wedding of Pats QB
Tom Brady and
Gisele Bundchen. An AFP reporter witnessed a half-dozen officers raid the Avahuer security company, which oversaw the April 4 wedding in Costa Rica. Authorities identified the detainee as
Alexander Rivas Barahona, a security agent of Colombian nationality. AFP photographer
Yuri Cortez and
Rolando Aviles, a freelancer who was working for Costa Rican daily Al Dia, were covering the wedding reception at Bundchen’s home in Costa Rica when the incident occurred. According to a lawsuit filed by AFP and the photographers, Cortez and Aviles were driven to the Bundchen property and ordered by bodyguards to hand over their cameras and memory cards. When they refused, the guards allegedly opened fire on their vehicle. The lawsuit, filed in a US District Court in New York, accuses Brady and his wife of “negligence and carelessness’’ and seeks $1 million in damages.
