So what if he was outdueled Sunday night? Tom Brady is still “Man of the Year.’’ As much for his pinup persona off the field as his play on it, the Pats QB is one of five fashionable fellows picked to appear on the cover of GQ’s annual “Men of the Year’’ issue. And Brady’s in good company. The other guys gracing the cover - each has his own - are President Obama, director Clint Eastwood, “The Hangover’’ stars Bradley Cooper, Ed Helms, and Zach Galifianakis, and “Star Trek’’ topliner Chris Pine. The issue, which hits stands next week, includes a picture of Brady doing something we doubt he actually does: ironing. (The pic, we’re told, was taken in September at the Beacon Street abode of Brady’s neighbor, developer Peter Georgantas.) In the article, the three-time Super Bowl champ talks about family, football, and fashion. Discussing his wedding - the first one in LA - Brady says he and his supermodel spouse, Gisele Bundchen, pulled it together in a hurry. “We planned it in like ten days, and it was perfect,’’ he says. “We went back to the house and I barbecued aged New York strips. We had champagne, a cake, some ice cream. It was a great night. I think you always have this idea that weddings need to be 200 people and you invite everybody, and I’m all for it if people want to do that, but I think there was really something special about just having our parents there.’’ Although he’s played well since returning from injury, Brady admits he hasn’t had the same intensity week in and week out. “The Friday before the Falcons game, Kevin Faulk came up to me and said, ‘You doing all right?’ And I was like, ‘Yeah.’ And he just said, ‘Well, I’ve played with you for a long time, and there’s just something that’s a little different now,’ ’’ says No. 12. “I think it was my intensity - or lack of it. And after the game, I said, ‘Man, I really appreciate what you said, and know that I take it to heart.’ . . . I gotta figure out the reason why it hasn’t been there.’’ Brady, who may be the only NFL QB to meet Chanel designer Karl Lagerfeld - at Lagerfeld’s house in Paris - and dine with Christian Dior designer John Galliano, said his style is his own. “I think any man who lets a woman pick what he should wear . . . I mean, you gotta draw the line somewhere as a man. I see these guys, ‘My wife told me to wear this!’ And I just shake my head.’’ GQ is throwing a party tomorrow night in LA to celebrate the issue, but Tom, we’re told, will not be there.
Menounos takes blame
Forget
Bill Belichick - maybe
Maria Menounos is the reason the Pats lost. A huge fan of her hometown team, the Medford native was tweeting throughout Sunday night’s game, and at some point concluded the Pats would prevail. “Early congrats to the pats! great game. actually feel a little bad for peyton . . . he’s a nice guy. better team won!’’ wrote the “Access Hollywood’’ correspondent. But then the Colts came storming back. “Oh god what did I do?!’’ she wrote. “Peyton on the attack!!! Sorry!!!’’ That was followed by “I don’t feel bad and no early congrats!’’ Then “Ok now I’m nervous.’’ And finally “I hereby apologize to the patriots and their fans. I am soley responsible for this loss clearly. . . . I’m a huge dumbass and should be punished.’’
Ticket agent gives back
Ace Ticket owner
Jim Holzman tells us he’ll happily give to charity any money he makes selling tickets to the New Kids on the Block’s House of Blues show Dec. 20. Yesterday we reported
Donnie Wahlberg was upset that ticket agencies had snapped up tix to the show, which is a fund-raiser for Toys for Tots. Ace, for example, is getting up to $300 for a $60 seat. “We do not expect you to pay insane amounts from scalpers,’’ Wahlberg tweeted. “Use your own discretion.’’ A chagrined-sounding Holzman called to say he was unaware the HOB show was a benefit. “We’re a little embarrassed about this whole thing,’’ he admitted. “And we’re going to give the profit from New Kids sales to Toys for Tots. We want to do the right thing at the right time.’’
