Imagine Scott Zigler’s surprise when he read a Q&A with Larry King in which the former talk show host ID’d Zigler as his nephew. “It was utterly baffling,’’ says Zigler, director of the American Repertory Theater’s Institute for Advanced Theater Training. “I know all of my mother’s siblings and all of my father’s siblings, and none of them is Larry King.’’ In other words, Zigler is not Larry King’s nephew. The Q&A by reporter R. Scott Reedy was published this week by GateHouse Media in advance of King’s stand-up show at the Wilbur Theatre tomorrow. Responding to a question about the show, King is quoted as saying, “My nephew, Scott Zigler, director of the American Repertory Theater/Moscow Art Theater School Institute for Advanced Theater Training at Harvard, knew how much I enjoyed those appearances so he suggested I do this show.’’ Well, that’s news to Zigler. “I recommended that he do the show? I joked with someone that I should hire a lawyer and sue on the basis of damage to my professional reputation,’’ said Zigler. “I haven’t seen his show, but I’m not convinced it’s high art.’’ We’re pretty sure King was talking about Scott Zeiger, who is his nephew and the co-CEO of BASE Entertainment, producer of “Phantom — The Las Vegas Spectacular.’’ Contacted yesterday, Reedy said it was an error. “It sounded like he said Zigler, but clearly he said Zeiger.’’ Reedy says an editor added Zigler’s title to the item before it was posted. The piece was corrected online yesterday.
