Kennedy heads down the aisle
The wedding today of former Rhode Island Representative Patrick Kennedy and his fiancée will be an intimate affair. The pair are getting hitched at 4:30 p.m. in a private ceremony at the Kennedy clan’s Cape Cod compound, and the guest list is limited to just family and a few friends. The 43-year-old Kennedy, the son of late Senator Ted Kennedy, is marrying New Jersey schoolteacher Amy Petitgout at the Kennedy homestead in Hyannis, and Supreme Court Justice Stephen Breyer is officiating. We’re told guests will include Kennedy’s mother, Joan, as well as his stepmom, Vicki Kennedy, sister Kara, brother Ted Jr., and Sean Richardson, a Democratic strategist who formerly ran Patrick Kennedy’s D.C. congressional office. Kennedy represented Rhode Island’s 1st Congressional District for 16 years before leaving in January. He made headlines in 2006 when he was involved in a car crash near the Capitol. He was subsequently treated for addiction to prescription medication. Since leaving Washington, Kennedy has cofounded an initiative with California businessman Garen Staglin to pursue brain research. Called One Mind for Research, the organization aims to hasten cures for neurological disorders by improving funding, awareness, and research of the brain.
