Brighton artist Fay Chandler, who will turn 89 in September, has been chosen as this year’s First Night artist. That means it’ll be her art on the First Night button worn by the thousands of revelers who take part in New Year’s Eve activities around the city. The work will also become the emblem of Boston’s 2011-2012 New Year’s Eve on posters, fliers, and the First Night website. Chandler’s work has been shown at the Museum of Fine Arts, the deCordova Sculpture Park and Museum, and the Danforth Museum. The First Night organization will reveal her winning design in November.
