Martha’s Vineyard dweller Carly Simon joined the Boston Pops at Jetties Beach on Nantucket over the weekend for a performance honoring the 100th anniversary of Nantucket Cottage Hospital. The concert featured Simon and the Pops performing “Let the River Run,’’ “Jesse,’’ and “You’re So Vain.’’ Familiar faces in the audience included event sponsors Steve and Jill Karp. Speaking of the Karps, they were also at the Great Harbor Yacht Club last week for a preview of the upcoming Nantucket Project, which will bring, according to its website, “a select group of eminent and accomplished visionaries, thinkers, innovators, and performers to one of the most storied places in the United States’’ starting next month. Nantucket Nectars cofounder Tom Scott, who is running the Nantucket Project, told the 120 people at the preview that the string of events will be something like “Aspen Institute meets Cirque du Soleil.’’ Presenters will include Henry Louis Gates and former Google boss Eric Schmidt.
