In moniker contest, Lowell Spinners’ ‘Hammer’ nails it
We’re pleased to report that Seth “The Hammer’’ Schwindenhammer of the Lowell Spinners has won Minor League Baseball’s 2011 “Minors Moniker Madness’’ competition. Schwindenhammer, who placed second in the contest last year after being bested by Rowdy Hardy in the fan vote, beat this year’s other fourth-round finalist, Dusty Harvard, who plays for the White Sox-affiliated Kannapolis Intimidators. Spinners spokesman Jon Boswell stayed classy by congratulating Dusty on his almost-win. “Harvard put up a valiant effort and it is no surprise with such a distinguished surname,’’ Boswell said in a statement.
