Book fests bring stars
The Boston Book Festival isn’t the only literary extravaganza in New England this fall. The Salem Literary Festival sent us a note about its lineup yesterday, and already it looks fantastic. The big headliner of the celebration - which takes place Sept. 23 to 25 - is Erin Morgenstern, whose book “The Night Circus’’ has been compared to “Twilight’’ and “Harry Potter,’’ which means she’s going to be a very big deal. Summit Entertainment (which made “Twilight’’) has already picked up the rights to the film, so this is your chance to meet Erin before she becomes untouchable. Also on the Salem festival list: Jenna Blum, Joanna Philbin (daughter of Regis), and Julia Glass, who will take part in a “Dinner With the Author’’ event on Saturday night. . . . Speaking of the Boston Book Festival, it will open this year with a talk about books and television. On Oct. 14, the night before the festival, “The Wire’’ writer/producer George Pelecanos and cast members Tray Chaney, Robert Chew, and Jamie Hector will talk about the show, race, class, and how HBO adapted the writing of Ed Burns. Tickets go on sale Sept. 14.![]()
