Rod Lurie, director of “Straw Dogs,’’ will screen the new thriller at Brandeis Sept. 8. A remake of the 1971 film starring Dustin Hoffman and Susan George, “Straw Dogs’’ stars James Marsden and Cohasset’s own Kate Bosworth as a couple who move to the deep South and become embroiled in an ugly fight with locals (led by a dead-behind-the-eyes character played by Alexander Skarsgard). After the screening, which was arranged by Brandeis film studies chair Alice Kelikian, Lurie will answer questions.
