'Porgy and Bess' crew dine UpStairs
Most of the big names who attended the Wednesday premiere of the American Repertory Theater’s “The Gershwins’ Porgy and Bess’’ dined first at UpStairs on the Square. The New York production staff, who will run the show when it gets to Broadway, had an early dinner with two “Porgy’’ associate producers. Meanwhile, a few members of the Gershwin family enjoyed a pre-show dinner with baritone Jack Waddell, who has played Porgy in other productions. ART board president Don Ware and his wife, Susan, were spotted dining outside. . . . Other familiar faces in the audience during the show included Gershwin singer Michael Feinstein, Newbury Comics boss Mike Dreese, Harvard Provost Alan Garber, Boston Pops conductor Keith Lockhart, and Dina and Greg Selkoe of Karmaloop.![]()
