Coco Chanel draws a stylish crowd to the Boston Public Library
The fashionistas flocked to the Boston Public Library for a party celebrating Justine Picardie’s new book, “Coco Chanel: The Legend and the Life,’’ which includes original sketches by Karl Lagerfeld and more than 200 unpublished photos of the legendary French designer. Stylish guests at the reception included Chanel’s Mary Nobile-King, Marilyn Riseman (wearing Chanel, of course), Doris Yaffe, Courtney Forrester, Billy Evers, Bill Emery, Susanne Hatje, Sara Underwood, and Jeryl Oristaglio. Picardie, who had special access to Chanel’s private archives, told the crowd she tried on some of Chanel’s actual clothing, including one of her jackets. When she slipped her hands into the pockets, she found a pair of gloves and a white handkerchief, both still carrying the faint scent of Chanel No. 5.
