Saturday night’s rain didn’t stop Sherry and Alan Leventhal from hosting the “Believe in Me!’’ gala for the Neighborhood House Charter School in Dorchester. The school, founded in 1995 to give low-income students another option for education, was named a Massachusetts Commendation School last month. About 400 guests attended Saturday’s celebration including Red Sox co-owner Tom Werner and his daughter Amanda, the school’s headmaster, Kevin Andrews, Boston Public Schools superintendent Carol Johnson, the school’s board chairman, Frederic Wittmann, and his wife, Museum of Fine Arts curator Christine Kondoleon, Alan Leventhal’s father, Norman, and Sherry Leventhal’s son Stephen Wise, Bella Luna owner and school trustee Carol Downs, City Year VP Charlie Rose, and the night’s cochairs, Deedie Bouscaren and Lisa Walker. The event raised $700,000.
