About 200 friends of the a cappella group the Dartmouth Aires gathered at Dartmouth College’s Collis Commonground on Monday night to cheer for the singers as they attempted to win first place on the NBC reality competition, “The Sing-Off.’’ Sadly, the group came in second, losing to the Texas ensemble Pentatonix, but the Hanover crowd had a ball anyway.
