Country singer Kellie Pickler shaves her head to support her friend
Country singer and "American Idol" alum Kellie Pickler, 26, showed her dedication to her friend this week.
She shaved her signature blond locks to support childhood friend Summer Miller, who was diagnosed with breast cancer and starts chemotherapy treatments this week.
She did it to support her friend, but also to spread the word about early detection of the disease, telling ABC News that “cancer does not discriminate.”
Kellie hopped on Twitter after the cut, which ABC reported she had done alongside Miller in Nashville, and tweeted:
It's been a great life-changing day.

Fans and fellow celebrities are reacting to Pickler's show of solidarity, dropping positive comments on social media. Ellen DeGeneres tweeted to Pickler:
@kelliepickler, you have never looked more beautiful. on-msn.com/Q9jTSN say.ly/veh46Sr
