Aussie super model Miranda Kerr has been the subject of speculation this week when US magazine circulated a rumor that her $1 million contract as a Victoria's Secret Angel was not renewed. The celeb publication cites sources who say Orlando Bloom's wife had "her wings clipped" because she was "not a big seller for VS."
Would this mean she's off the brand completely?
Not so much. The source continues: "They can still use her for catalogue, where she will get a day rate, but she doesn't have to be an Angel to do that."
This is true. Former members of the Angels -- the official group of models associated with Victoria's Secret -- Gisele Bundchen, Tyra Banks, and Heidi Klum also continued to work with the brand after giving up their wings to pursue other projects.
US continues with an additional source that says Kerr's "difficult reputation" is to blame for the split.
However, a statement from Victoria's Secret president and chief marketing officer Ed Razek denies the rumors, saying "She is also a consummate professional. Any rumors to the contrary are simply untrue ... While her international commitments have kept her away from us more than we'd like over the past few years, she will always be an Angel to me."
Does that settle that? Perhaps.
The status of Kerr's contract has yet to be confirmed or denied but Razek went on to say the model has already signed on to be a part of the 2013 Victoria's Secret Fashion Show. Kerr's rep confirmed Razek's statement but has no comment on contract details, according to USA Today.
Also in the world of Angels, earlier this week, the newest model to get her wings, Karlie Kloss, received backlash for keeping her hair short in the brand's campaign featuring long-haired "bombshells." Rough week to be a super model?
We guess so.
