Prince William sat down with CNN's Max Foster to talk fatherhood and the impression he left when, after giving the world its first glimpse of the baby prince on the steps of St. Mary’s Hospital on July 23, he placed Prince George's car seat into the car himself and drove his family home.

Here's what he said about the car seat:

Believe me, it wasn't my first time. And I know there's been speculation about that. I had to practice, I really did. I was terrified that I was going to do some, you know, it was going to fall off or the door wasn't going to close properly. So, I had actually practiced with that seat, but only once before.

And on driving his family home:

I very much feel if I can do it myself I want to do it myself.

Foster asked Prince William if the press is reading too much into the idea of a new modern monarchy from his hands-on approach to fatherhood outside of the hospital. Was it just simply William and Kate doing things their way? Prince William's reply:

I think so, and I'm just doing it the way I know this, you know, if it's the right way then brilliant, if it's not, if it's the wrong way then I'll try to do it better , but...no I just, I'm quite...I'm reasonably headstrong about what I believe in, and what I go for, and I've got fantastic people around me who give me great support and advice.

Other topics covered in the interview? Find out who changed the first nappy, who stays up more at night with the little prince, and how the couple's dog Lupo is adjusting. Read the transcript of the interview on CNN.
