Rihanna's weekend selfie on Instagram has helped nab two animal smugglers.
That's because it isn't just any animal perched on RiRi's shoulder while she vacationed in Thailand during a break from her Diamonds World Tour. It's a slow loris, a squirrel-like animal with big eyes that's listed as a protected species.

So when Rihanna posted the photo with the primate to her more than 9 million Instagram followers and it received more than 200,000 likes from around the world, police took notice.
A 16-year-old boy and 20-year-old man were arrested and could face charges of possession of protected animals, which carries a penalty of up to four years in prison and a $1,300 fine, reports the Associated Press.
Phuket district chief Weera Kerdsirimongkon told the AP yesterday that authorities have tried for years to crack down on the problem of people exploiting wildlife in tourist areas.
