"Roar" songstress Katy Perry was spotted at the MTV EMAs in Amsterdam over the weekend wearing a classic diamond solitaire on that finger -- leading to the unavoidable question: is she engaged?

The 29-year-old is currently dating "Paper Doll" crooner John Mayer and the couple has been on high engagement watch since he was spotted reportedly ring shopping earlier this month.

Sadly, no confirmation comes from Camp Katy (or Mayer, for that matter) but multiple sources close to the couple told Us Weekly the ring is not an engagement ring.

"She's not engaged. It was just a ring that went with the outfit," a source told the publication. Us Weekly also noted that Perry's rep does not comment on the artist's personal life.

However, sources seem to think it won't be long before the 36-year-old singer/songwriter pops the question, one telling E! News that the proposal is "inevitable."

Perry and Mayer have been public (and off and on) since summer 2012 but the "Prism" songstress recently revealed that their romance has been going on much longer than that.

"We had a long courtship before anything was [public]," she confirmed to Entertainment Weekly when explaining how Mayer inspired the track "Legendary Lovers" on her new album.

Perry previously married to comedian Russell Brand in 2010 before divorcing due to "irreconcilable differences" one year later.

Mayer has dated many women. Never married.
