"Good Morning America" anchor Robin Roberts revealed she is gay publicly for the first time when she addressed her girlfriend in a Facebook post Sunday.
Here is an excerpt from that post:
I am grateful for my entire family, my long time girlfriend, Amber, and friends as we prepare to celebrate a glorious new year together.

Roberts did not mention Amber's last name, but People.com reports her name is Amber Laign, a San Francisco Bay-area native and licensed massage therapist. The two met through mutual friends and have been together for 10 years.
It was a note full of gratitude for all who have stood by her during her very public battle with cancer. She was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2007, and underwent a bone marrow transplant in 2012 to treat a rare blood disorder called myelodysplastic syndrome. She was inspired to write the post, which included a photo of Roberts with her dog KJ from Dec. 29, 2012, because it was the first anniversary of the 100th day of recovery from that transplant.
Many fans expressed support and affection for Roberts on Facebook last night and this morning.
Her employer ABC wasn't surprised by the news. Here is the statement released by the network yesterday.
We love Robin and Amber, who we have all known for a long time. We were so touched by Robinís Facebook message today and so thankful for all the loving support she has in her life.
