Did George Clooney just "mean girl" Matt Damon?

On the set of their new film "The Monuments Men," the actors decided they would both make an effort to "get in shape," but the Cambridge-born actor found his clothes tighter than usual.

"I was working out... and I said, 'this can't be,'" Damon told Jay Leno on Wednesday's episode of "The Tonight Show."

Clooney, 53, was secretly having Damon's pants taken in a fraction of an inch "every couple days," leaving the father of four confused about his sudden weight gain.

"I never said anything to him, which he probably loved even more," laughed Damon, who only figured out the prank after reading about it over the summer.

"Matt was rushing to lose weight, and Id have the wardrobe people take in his uniform every day, so that no matter how much he was losing, the clothes felt tight on him," Clooney told Deadline back in August.

Clooney is known for his epic pranks, including one with his Oscar-nominated "Gravity" co-star Sandra Bullock, who also went on Leno to recount a recent trick:

"I went to the bathroom and came out and there was George and someone else with just their pants on going, 'We're gonna go in the pool,' and I was like, 'Really?' And so I held their hands and on the count of three, and in slow motion I see Nicole Kidman with a stack of towels -- and I jump, and they let go, and I go in the pool."

"The Monuments Men" is due in theaters this February.
