Holmes broke off her engagment to former fiance, Chris Klein, in February 2005. The couple had been together since 2000.

When asked to explain why he wasn't planning to send Holmes a gift or a congratulatory card after her baby was born, Klein said in an interview with AP Radio, "Her and my relationship is a time in the past."
