Poet Piano Man
Ken Gordon needs money to maintain his website, JBooks.com, but he's not a big fan of fundraising. "I couldn't do it with a straight face," he says. The solution? Gordon's created a video in which former poet laureate and BU professor Robert Pinsky plays an improbable pitchman, singing a little JBooks promo on a Casio piano. ("At JBooks," Pinsky croons about the site devoted to Jewish literature, "they're businesspeople, not a bunch of idealistic shnooks.") In the vid, available on YouTube and at JBooks.com, Pinsky is described by ImprovBoston writer David Mogolov: "(He) was the poet laureate...That's like being the surgeon general and an MTV veejay all rolled up into one." Here it is.
