Mark Morris: the forecast is...blunt

Want to get into Mark Morris' head? The renowned choreographer will be interviewed by Boston Ballet director Mikko Nissinen at Phillips Academy's Tang Theatre at 7 p.m. tomorrow (Tuesday). The talk is free and open to the public but tickets must be reserved in advance by calling 978-749-4433. And if his blunt, straight-forward phone demeanor is any indication, we're guessing it should be pretty entertaining. (He told us, for example, he has no idea what he'll talk about with Nissinen. "What I do, I imagine," he deadpanned. "I haven't been there, I don't know what the hell's going on.")
Morris will spend the day working with student dancers and musicians at the private Andover boarding school; the kids are rehearsing his piece, “Bedtime,” which his own company will also perform at the Cutler Majestic Theatre – along with “All Fours” and “V” – from March 19th through the 22nd.
Morris told us he's happy to get back to performing smaller, chamber music concerts -- his company's hallmark -- after being on the road with big shows of late. "It will be with all live music, of course," he said. "Because it's my company and that's all we do." Indeed.
