When Michael Bivins , formerly of the Boston-bred boy band New Edition, called us to reminisce about his hero Michael Jackson, he told us that his best memory of the king of pop is the day he got the chance to introduce Jackson to his other hero, Michael Jordan. Bivins was with Jackson, Macaulay Culkin and the Bivins-produced boy band Another Bad Creation on the set of Jackson's video for "Black or White" when he found out that Jordan was filming a commercial on a nearby lot. Bivins brought his two idols together, which turned into a friendship -- and a collaboration for the song "Jam." Bivins says he proudly displays a photo of himself with the two Michaels in his living room.

Bivins was packing to travel to Sunday's BET Awards when he heard the bad news. He told us Jackson's voice was "effortless and timeless and colorless."
