Neil Diamond and the Pops for the 4th
Neil Diamond is making a return trip to Boston. The "Sweet Caroline" singer, who serenaded fans at Fenway Park last summer, will perform with Keith Lockhart and the Pops at their annual July 4th extravaganza on the Esplanade. Weirdly, Liberty Mutual was the first to tell us today. The insurance giant is the official sponsor of the show. CBS, which broadcasts the bash, subsequently issued a press release confirming that Diamond will join host Craig Ferguson. (The Pops must still be spell-checking their press release.) CBS will carry the show live from 10:00-11:00 p.m., with the final 21 minutes of the broadcast, including the fireworks display, presented commercial free thanks to Liberty Mutual.
