Aerosmith’s Steven Tyler suffered a broken shoulder and injuries to his
head and back when he fell from the stage at a show in South Dakota
Wednesday. Tyler, 61, was dancing on a catwalk when he suddenly stumbled
and fell awkwardly into the crowd. The singer was doing the impromptu dance
to entertain fans after the sound system failed. The audience at South
Dakota’s famed Sturgis Motorcycle Rally thought the fall was part of the
act until the singer didn’t get up. Tyler, who missed several shows last
month due to a leg problem, was airlifted to Rapid City Regional Hospital,
the largest hospital in western South Dakota. Last night, Joe Perry’s wife,
Billie, told Aerosmith fans via Twitter that Tyler suffered a broken
shoulder and received stitches on his head and back. She said the band has
returned to Boston and it's not known when the tour might resume. This is
the latest setback for Aerosmith. In addition to Tyler's problems,
guitarist Brad Whitford and bassist Tom Hamilton have missed concerts this
summer due to illness and injury. Tyler was at Sturgis earlier in the week
to promote his Dirico Motorcycles line.

  1. Steven, you're 61 but you've the body of a 21 year old. When he sees what you've done to it he's going to be really, really mad!

  1. Stevie - don't ever change. You're as old as you feel. Heal up quick.

  1. The only band that has aged gracefully is KISS ... because Gene and Paul eschewed drugs. These Aerosmith washouts will all be senile soon.

  1. I say keep rocking until you just can't do it anymore. Of course, I'd never pay to see Aerosmith. They're alright, but certainly one of the most overrated bands in recent history. Their early material is better, but not worthy of the high praise bestowed upon the NH boys (yes they not from boston)...

  1. You better ring McCartney up...ask for some pointers, Steven. He's got half a dozen years on you, and he's running around stage like a young pup, and, so far, hasn't broken any limbs, or other bones.
