Kidd in town

Chip Kidd, the graphic design star whose handiwork has graced the covers of books by Gish Jen, John Updike, David Sedaris, and Michael Crichton, among many others, was in town the other night to unveil a poster promoting the Boston Book Festival. Joining Kidd at the Boston Public Library was Augusten Burroughs, the western Mass. memoirist famous for "Running with Scissors." The Boston Book Festival takes place Oct. 24 at the BPL, Old South Church, Trinity Church, and Copley Square. There'll be panels featuring internationally-known writers, scholars, critics and commentators; a focus on technology as it relates to reading; writing workshops; and spoken word and music performances.
