An interesting tidbit about Janeane Garofalo -- she doesn't have an e-mail account.

The comedian, who's famous for "Reality Bites" and "24," tells us that she stopped using e-mail long ago because it's so addictive. "I was spending hours and hours. You can never get your arms around the e-mail. It's just easier to talk to the person."

Garofalo, who appears at the Wilbur Theatre on Friday as part of a double bill with her "Daily Show" pal Rob Riggle has become somewhat of a political activist over the last few years and has been targeted by conservative radio hosts for her opinions about everything from the Middle East to the Boston Tea Party.

Garofalo said she has grown used to being criticized and in some cases harassed for her beliefs. She said she finds the dialogue "invigorating," although she admits that when you speak out, "You get to meet some of the worst people you've ever met."

Garofalo, who used to live in Boston, said she strongly believes that her protestors treat her with less respect because she's a woman. They approach her on the street and try to intimidate her.

She joked that she's rarely bothered when she's out with Riggle -- mainly because that as a beefy Marine Corps officer-turned comedian who served in Afghanistan and Kosovo, he makes for the perfect bodyguard.
