John Henry has a hand in "Moneyball"

Is John Henry angling for a career in Hollywood? The Sox owner tells us he read - and partially rewrote - the script for the film "Moneyball," which is set to shoot at Fenway next week. The movie is based on the celebrated book by Michael Lewis, about the Oakland A's and its GM Billy Beane, an early adherent of the sabermetric approach to building a baseball team. In the interest of accuracy, Henry said producers let him take a look at the script, and he made a few suggested changes. ("Social Network" scribe Aaron Sorkin is working on the "Moneyball" screenplay.) His rewrite was then shown to Beane, who told producers that Henry's version was closer to the truth. The movie, which has been in the works for a few years, stars Brad Pitt as Beane, Philip Seymour Hoffman as former A's manager Art Howe, and Jonah Hill and Robin Penn Wright. Among the scenes being shot at Fenway is one with Pitt and an actor playing Henry. Who is that? "I don't know," said the Sox owner. "If you find out, let me know." Well, who would he like to be played by? Henry paused and then said: "Sam Shepard." Not bad.
