"Grown Ups" first look
Seems like "Grown Ups" just finished filming and already the trailer is online. The movie, which filmed this summer in and around Gloucester, stars Adam Sandler and his buddies Chris Rock, Kevin James, David Spade, Rob Schneider, Salma Hayek, and Maria Bello. Anyway, here it is. See what you think.
Joey Mac attack
New Kid on the Block Joey McIntyre is back with a solo track and his pals at People.com posted the vid. "I've made a lot of music in my life, but this is the boldest and most raw stuff yet," McIntyre, 36, tells the web site. "I had some angst to get off my chest and I did that through this music. Bottom line is, I'm tired of saying no, so I'm saying, 'Yeah!' I wanna rock. I hope it makes you say, 'Yeah,' too!" It also makes us say, "What's with the Auto-Tune, Joe?" Here's the video.
Tom Brady is the "Man...of the Year."
So what if he couldn't convert on fourth and two, Tom Brady is still "Man of the Year." As much for his pinup persona off the field as his play on it, the Pats QB is one of five fashionable fellows picked to appear on the cover of GQ's annual "Men of the Year" issue And Brady's in good company. The other guys gracing the cover are President Barak Obama, director Clint Eastwood, "The Hangover" stars Bradley Cooper, Ed Helms, and Zach Galifianakis, and "Star Trek" topliner Chris Pine. The issue, which is out next week, includes a picture of Brady doing something we doubt he actually does - ironing. (The pic, we're told, was taken during a mid-September shoot at the Beacon Street abode of Brady's neighbor, developer Peter Georgantas.) In the accompanying article, the three-time Super Bowl champ talks about family, football, and fashion. Discussing his wedding - the first one in L.A. - Brady says he and his supermodel spouse Gisele Bundchen pulled it together in in a hurry. "We planned it in like ten days, and it was perfect,” he says. “We went back to the house and I barbecued aged New York strips. We had champagne, a cake, some ice cream. It was a great night. I think you always have this idea that weddings need to be 200 people and you invite everybody, and I’m all for it if people want to do that, but I think there was really something special about just having our parents there.” Although he's played well since returning from injury, Brady admits he hasn't had the same intensity week in and week out. “The Friday before the Falcons game, Kevin Faulk came up to me and said, ‘You doing all right?’ And I was like, ‘Yeah.’ And he just said, “Well, I’ve played with you for a long time, and there’s just something that’s a little different now.’" says No. 12. "I think it was my intensity -- or lack of it. And after the game, I said, ‘Man, I really appreciate what you said, and know that I take it to heart.’...I gotta figure out the reason why it hasn’t been there.” Brady, who may be the only NFL QB to meet Chanel designer Karl Lagerfeld - at Lagerfeld’s house in Paris - and dine with Christian Dior designer John Galliano, said his style is his own. "I think any man who lets a woman pick what he should wear… I mean, you gotta draw the line somewhere as a man. I see these guys, ‘My wife told me to wear this!’ And I just shake my head.” GQ is throwing a party tomorrow night in L.A. to celebrate the issue, but Tom, we're told, will not be there, and that's just fine with us.
Clay Buchholz is the marrying kind
BoSox pitcher Clay Buchholz and his fiancee, "Deal or No Deal" model Lindsay Clubine, will walk down the aisle tomorrow in California. The pair, who've been an item for over a year, are getting hitched at Trump National Golf Club in LA. A few nights before their big day, Clay and Clubine treated guests to a pre-celebration of sorts at Twelve + Highland, a restaurant in Manhattan Beach, Ca. Organized by DB3 Productions, the event was also a fundraiser for the Red Sox Foundation. Among those walking the red carpet were Sox players Jacoby Ellsbury, Dusty Brown, and Casey Kotchman, soccer players Zach Thornton, Ante Razov, Oguchi Onyewu, and Clubine's "Deal or No Deal" colleagues Katie Cleary , Crystal Monte, and Megan Abrigo.

Say, aren't you Derek Jeter?

World Series winner Derek Jeter this week donned a fright wig for a cameo in "The Other Guys," a cop caper co-starring Mark Wahlberg and Will Ferrell. The Yankees captain plays himself in the film, but far in the future, when he's done winning titles and is down on his luck. Jeter previously had a small role in the Jack Nicholson flick "Anger Management" and appeared on "Seinfeld." The film, which is shooting now in New York, is due to be released next summer.

Gordon Gano drops by Mullen's Boston office
Before his gig at the Middle East the other night, Violent Femmes frontman Gordon Gano dropped by Mullen's Boston office, treating employees of the ad agency to an unplugged version of the Femmes classic "Blister in the Sun." Why? Gano is touring with Bill and Brendan Ryan - a.k.a. the Ryan Brothers - who are pals with Mullen creative director Chris Brady.
Tito disses Nomar

Sox manager Terry Francona gave SBLI chief Bob Sheridan the Arthritis Foundation's Lifetime Achievement award at the Fairmont Copley the other night. Tito told a few funny stories about former Sox Manny Ramirez and Nomar Garciaparra, whose popularity Francona admitted he misjudged. "I thought he was just a shortstop who wasn't very good anymore," the skipper told the crowd. In the audience were F1 honcho R.J.Valentine, foremost flack George Regan, and Barbara Capuano, wife of Congressman Mike Capuano.
Ladies love Kellan Lutz

A flock of young women with fangs on the brain gathered at the Natick Collection last night to glimpse Kellan Lutz, who plays Emmett Cullen in the much-adored "Twilight" series. Touring suburban malls to promote "The Twilight Saga: New Moon," the actor chatted with fans at a VIP event at Nordstrom and then faced the masses at Hot Topic, the mecca for all things Twilight. Lutz talked to us before facing his "Twilight" groupies and insisted he doesn't mind the vampire-loving mob that follows him around. He's thankful for the attention, though he wishes he had more time during junkets and fan conventions to actually see the cities he's visiting. "I have no time," he said. "Half them time I never leave the hotel." (That said, he was making a special effort to see On the Surface, the Boston-bred band featuring the adorable Heather Fogarty, tonight at the Middle East) Lutz said that he and his vampire co-stars -- including Robert Pattinson and Ashley Greene -- have become close over the course of three movies. (The cast recently finished shooting the third "Twilight" film, "Eclipse.") He said he knows the vampires better than the werewolves because the two actors don't mingle much. Why? The groups of actors are on set at different times. "We all stick to our pack or coven," he joked, adding that in real life, all of the young actors who play werewolves follow their wolf leader, Taylor Lautner, like little puppies. Natick Collection security estimated that about 500 people came out for the Lutz event. Gabby Arnold drove up with her mom from Hamden, CT. The 15-year-old girl, who slept on the floor of the mall a few weeks ago just to get a bracelet to attend yesterday's event, was thrilled when Lutz signed her poster. "I'm going to hang this on my wall next to my, like, 500 other pictures," said Arnold.

Jamie McCourt speaks

The always entertaining Los Angeles Times columnist T.J. Simers caught with Jamie McCourt, soon-to-be ex-wife of Dodgers owner Frank McCourt. His interview with her, linked here, is worth reading. At one point, he asks about the Globe's story about the McCourts's messy divorce, linked here.

The U.S. State Department has created a new video focused on food security and global hunger, and homeboy Matt Damon narrates. Here's a look.
