Even though "The O.C." has long since faded into teen soap opera history and everyone else on that show can't seem to get arrested, Rachel Bilson has managed to stay in the spotlight. Karl Lagerfeld tapped her for his campaigns for Magnum ice cream and she's an "eyewear ambassador" for Sunglass Hut. While she may have cultivated fashion "It" girl celebrity, it doesn't account for why anyone would make her the lead of a TV show. But that's exactly what happened in 2011 and now she plays a New York surgeon forced to move her fast-paced career to molasses-slow Alabama in The CW's "Hart of Dixie," which the Globe's TV critic, Matthew Gilbert, describes as "just a mess of bad choices."
