Cary concert to feature Beatlejuice

A Beatles tribute band will play at Cary Memorial Hall at 8 p.m. Saturday as part of a concert series intended to encourage foot traffic and spending in the town’s business district. Beatlejuice, which will perform all 27 of the Fab Four’s number one hits, is the second of six acts in the series; folk singer Judy Collins opened it with a sold-out concert on Sept. 22, according to Town Manager Carl Valente. He said the series represents an opportunity for the town to experiment with uses for the auditorium at 1605 Massachusetts Ave. He said the town also hopes the concerts will attract out-of-towners and help familiarize them with local businesses and restaurants. The series continues with the Canadian Brass on Dec. 17, Mavis Staples on Feb. 1, the Irish Rovers on March 23, and Manhattan Transfer on April 10. The series is run by Spectacle Management, a concert promoter that staffs the events and handles setup and cleanup, so the town does not have to incur any expenses.
