CAIN AND ABEL: STORIES OF FAMILY ON THE EDGE Bigger-than-sliced-bread local authors Tom Perrotta and Elizabeth Benedict stop by the Enormous Room for an evening of stories about families that dont quite get along as part of this months edition of Four Stories. Given the proximity of this modern salon to the holidays, expect some sharp and salty readings. Four Stories is a collaboration between the Enormous Room and Newtonville Books with a mission to narrow the gap between the worlds of nightlife and literature. Hang out, eat the veggie tempura, enjoy a couple of mojitos, and nod along to the work of Jamie Clarke, Megan Sullivan, Perrotta, and Benedict. The party takes place from 7 to 9 p.m. and is free. Enormous Room, 569 Mass. Ave., Cambridge. 617-491-5550.

NAKED COMEDY SHOWCASE Are comedians funnier when they tell jokes in the altogether? Local comic Andy Ofeish seems to think so. He regularly convinces Boston comedians to shuck their skivvies and hit the stage to tell jokes naked. What began in 1998 as a weekend of clothing-optional marriage workshops and stand-up comedy classes has morphed in one big nudie stand-up comedy monster. The fact that people are naked really impresses the audience, says Ofeish, a Waltham software developer. Before you ever say a word, theres a connection with the audience. Theyre on your side. It remains to be seen, however, if the audience is laughing with the comedians, or at them. The showcase takes place at ImprovBoston at 10 p.m. Tickets are $10. ImprovBoston, 1253 Cambridge St., Cambridge. 617-576-1253.
