Enigmatic yet simply drawn, the people in these paintings (such as "Lola," above) entice with their almond-eyed inward gazes and porcelain skin. Stevovich, who also has a show at the Danforth Museum of Art through Dec. 2, deploys lush tones and flat forms in scenes with surprising emotional complexity. He stuffs the frame of "Local/Switch" with commuters; they all have guarded brown eyes, save one sleeping woman in the center, who stands serenely out from the rest. In all these works, the power lies in the figures' enticing inscrutability. Tue-Sat 10 a.m. -5 p.m. Free. Clark Gallery, 145 Lincoln Road, Lincoln. 781-259-8303. clarkgallery.com![]()
