Tonight: "Improvelocity" presents an evening of collective improvisation fusing jazz, symphonic, microtonal, blues, and beyond with vocalists Andrea Loretz-Frey and Toni Maria Pinheiro, percussionist Ukumbwa Sauti, cellist Joel Cohen, clarinetist Todd Brunel, saxophonist Michael Carey, guitarist Paul Rodriguez, and drummer Grant Smith at Outpost 186. Tonight and tomorrow night: Piano great McCoy Tyner, with guest trumpeter Christian Scott, continues this weekend at the Regattabar. Monday: Pianist Donal Fox presents "Mashups in Blue," his innovative blend of classical, jazz, and Latin music, including his own compositions as well as interpretations of J.S. Bach, Domenico Scarlatti, Astor Piazzolla, Thelonious Monk, and John Coltrane, at Emmanuel Church. Roomful of Blues is at the Regattabar. The Boston Horns are at Ryles. Vocalist Valerie Stephens presents a tribute titled "The Art and Time of Nina Simone" at the Park Plaza Terrace Room. WGBH presents the Danilo Perez Big Band at the David Friend Recital Hall at Berklee, in a concert to be broadcast as part of NPR's "Toast of the Nation." - Kevin Lowenthal
