Essex: The Essex Historical Society and Shipbuilding Museum celebrates Valentine's Day with a dramatic presentation of "The Love Letters of John and Abigail Adams" followed by a reception featuring a chocolate buffet. Wearing historically accurate clothing and using period props, re-enactors Patricia Bridgman and Thomas Macy will bring to life Mr. and Mrs. Adams, reading their correspondence and interacting with the audience in this living-history performance. Salem: The flamboyant world of kabuki theater is captured in the new exhibition "Stage Idols, Japanese Kabuki Theater," opening Feb. 2 at Peabody Essex Museum, East India Square.
