Cybersound Studios opens its doors today so that aspiring musicians can record a track in an effort to win themselves a record deal. The Decca Label Group, which represents Paula Cole and Boys II Men, says it will give a recording contract to the artist or band that records the most engaging song. If you can't make it to the recording studio today for the "First Tracks: The Search for America's Best Musical Talent" contest, you can upload an entry to gather.com before Feb. 27. Cybersound will have synthesizers, keyboards, a Fender guitar, a Fender precision bass, a Pro Tools HD3 system, and microphones on hand for people who stop by, but you should also come prepared to record an acoustic version of the song. Fans will be allowed to vote for their favorite act online. A winner will be announced this spring. 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Cyber Sound Studio, 349 Newbury St., gather.com![]()
