More than 30 years ago, Kunta Kinte and his family captivated TV audiences in "Roots." The miniseries followed an African-American family, starting with pre-slavery life and continuing through the Civil War. LeVar Burton was nominated for an Emmy for his portrayal of the African slave, and the actor will talk about the role that catapulted his career at tonight's "The Making of 'Roots' " at Wellesley College. Following the talk there will be an audience Q&A. Seating is limited. 7 p.m. Free. Collins Cinema, Wellesley College, 106 Central St., Wellesley. 781-283-2133. www.wellesley.edu
