Celebrating record stores

If record stores go the way of the rotary phone, we'll never meet characters like Barry, the music-obsessed clerk played by Jack Black in "High Fidelity." And that would be a shame. Show your support for brick-and-mortar music stores, and guys like Barry, at Record Store Day, going on today at independently owned stores around the world. Newbury Comics is having a big sale and a raft of in-store appearances. The Dresden Dolls (below) will be hanging out at the Harvard Square store from 2 to 5 p.m. today, and Aaron Lewis of Staind will be performing solo in Amherst at 2 p.m. Check newburycomics.com for the full schedule. recordstoreday .com
