Sidekick's Meredith Goldstein is keen on DJs who spin pop music and restaurants that serve real food after 11 p.m. She answered your burning questions about what to do this weekend.
Meredith_Goldstein: Hi everbody, it's Meredith with the Boston Globe. First time chatting on a Friday (Thursday's my day), so hello Friday readers. Need weekend plans? I've got 'em for you.
whoopwhoop__Guest_: MG - best live music this weekend?
Meredith_Goldstein: Tea Leaf Gree. Saturday. Paradise. A good gig.
soxygirl__Guest_: I need a laugh. any good comedians in town?
Meredith_Goldstein: Craig Shoemaker is great and he's at the Comedy Connection. But I also think a great idea would be to head over to the new ImprovBoton digs in Central Square. A great new space (and you could have a few sips at the Field when you're done).
Meredith_Goldstein: Also for live music, there's a great show at the Roxy on Saturday night. Atmosphere. A hip-hop duo. Worth checking out.
Meredith_Goldstein: Anyone need ideas for patios for tonight?
rckstrmk__Guest_: I need to get outdoors. any ideas?
Meredith_Goldstein: www.bostonharborcruises.com/whale_schedule.html
Meredith_Goldstein: I know it's touristy, but there's nothing like a good Whale Watch on a nice day, and the boats are up and running for the season again.
Kam__Guest_: do you know of anything fun to do outside the city this weekend
Meredith_Goldstein: I'd go for the writing festival up in Newburyport, but were you looking for music? Nightlife? http://www.firehouse.org/
Kam__Guest_: i'm looking for something other than dinner and a movie
Meredith_Goldstein: Well, that event at the Firehouse is great, and if you're not opposed to dinner, you can eat first at Mad Martha's on Plum Island. My fav.
Aja1__Guest_: Hi Meredith, is the ImprovAsylum still going strong? I haven't been in 5 or so years.
Meredith_Goldstein: Indeed. It's also a great group. I find it to be a bit lighter than improvboston in material, but both groups are hilarious.
RSFan__Guest_: What about the patio ideas for tonight?
Meredith_Goldstein: You know, I was over at Sel De La Terre yesterday and was reminded of its patio. For lunch or dinner, it's a nice set up.
BostonBen__Guest_: Where's the best place for meeting other young professionals if you're new in the city?
Meredith_Goldstein: Well, this event on Tuesday should be perfect for you: bostonypa.com/event.asp?id=584.
Meredith_Goldstein: I can't say one venue in the city is "best" for meeting peers -- unless I know what kind of young professionals you're talking about. Are you looking for business types? Book lovers? The recently graduated?
Meredith_Goldstein: http://www.boston.com/ae/restaurants/gallery/outdoordining/ -- that's for you patio folks.
Meredith_Goldstein: Anything else I can help you with?
Aja1__Guest_: what concerts are you looking forward to this spring/summer?
Meredith_Goldstein: The big one. No, not New Kids on the Block. No, not Kanye. GEORGE MICHAEL. At the Garden. Enough said.
RSFan__Guest_: Any suggestions for good bars/restaurants on the water? Not Tia's!
Meredith_Goldstein: Ha. Don't like the scene at Tia's? I thought it was the season for that place. Maybe instead, try Tavern on the Water in Charlestown.
Meredith_Goldstein: Ok, thanks for chatting folks. If you need anything else, I'm at mgoldstein@globe.com. Have a sweet weekend.
