April 26, 2008

The Swan Boats arrived last Saturday, and today the sailboats make their grand entrance at Free Sailing Weekend. The trips along Boston's waterfront, where you'll see the Old North Church steeple, the Bunker Hill Monument, Fort Independence, and the Boston Fish Pier, are Boston Sailing Center's way of saying hello to the season. The center's staff helms several 23-to-40-foot boats and answers questions about sailing and the harbor. You'll even get refreshments. Just remember to bring layers - it's still April after all. 1-5 p.m. rain or shine (repeats Sunday). Free. Boston Sailing Center, Lewis Wharf, off Atlantic Avenue, Boston. 617-227-4198. bostonsailingcenter.com [June Wulff]
