July 1, 2008

Much like every other holiday, the Fourth of July has now been lengthened to an entire week. That's fine by us; all the more excuse to honor the birth of our nation the best way we know how: by eating and drinking. Today the Boston Harborfest, a celebration of Boston's Colonial and maritime history, kicks off at noon at Faneuil Hall with remarks from our esteemed mayor and the cutting of an 8-by-8-foot, 1,000-pound Betsy Ross American Flag cake. Sweet, yummy history. Throughout the week there will be reenactments of Boston's vital historic moments and tours the city's colonial past, by land and by sea.
