Get Out Chat with Meredith Goldstein
Sidekick's Meredith Goldstein is keen on DJs who spin pop music and restaurants that serve real food after 11 p.m. She answered your burning questions about what to do this weekend.
Meredith_Goldstein: Hi there, it's Meredith with the Globe. Need ideas for the weekend? Need plans for the 4th? Want to know where you can see the Pillsbury Doughboy in person? I have answers, so ask away.
fun_tyme__Guest_: hello?
Meredith_Goldstein: hello!
Meredith_Goldstein: Hi, fun_tyme. In need of weekend plans?
fun_tyme__Guest_: sure, what's going on?
Meredith_Goldstein: Well, obviously, the big 4th celebration is tomorrow. But there's also a good dance party at Great Scott -- the Pill. thepillboston.com.
asfga__Guest_: the fireworks are going to too overwhelming. i need something to do OTHER than that on the boston side of the river. I'm not in a patriotic frame of mind.
Meredith_Goldstein: I understand. Crowds can be tough. The Great Scott party might be good for you, too. But I'd also check out Rubblebucket Orchestra at Johnny D's. Not the Boston side of the river, but good music -- and unrelated to the 4th.
Meredith_Goldstein: Is that the type of think you were looking for? It's hard to escape fireworks in these parts.
aja1__Guest_: Hi Meredith, I'm on my own Saturday night (male in his 30's). Where would you go to get a decent dinner and watch the Sox game?
Meredith_Goldstein: If I were a male in my 30s and on my own, I'd watch the Sox game at Flann's in Mission Hill. And I would eat jalapeno poppers. And I would like it just fine. Or, I'd hit up McGreevy's in the Back Bay. I've been pitching that bar a lot lately, but it's just a darn good place to watch a game.
Meredith_Goldstein: My thing with the poppers at Flann's is that -- if I remember correctly, they're made with cream cheese.
Meredith_Goldstein: Ok everybody, you're quiet today, but perhaps you're already on vacation for the long weekend. Enjoy the fireworks (or hiding from them) and if you have extra questions, I'm at mgoldstein@globe.com.
