In celebration of the National Night Out, which promotes community crime prevention efforts, the Franklin Park Zoo will host a series of family-friendly events tonight under the theme The Power of Neighbors, presented by Mayor Thomas M. The hot dogs and sodas are free, along with all of the events, including face painting, the ReadBoston Storytelling Van, and a singalong with one-man-band Kevin McNamara. Plus, there's the zoo itself, featuring its Bird World and gorilla exhibits. Check www.bostoncrimewatch.com for other National Night Out events. 5-8 p.m. Free.
